Apple pie is by far one of the ultimate fall comfort foods! Especially when my Gramma makes it. I rarely do since the act of preparing and rolling out a crust is too time-consuming for me. Not to mention peeling apples always ends up in some type of injury for me. BUT ever since I've stumbled upon this recipe, I've been making them left and right! It's a type of crust-less apple pie with unpeeled apples!
5-6 granny smith apples, cored and sliced
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 and 1/2 stick of butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts (opt)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9" pie pan and fill with apple slices. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp of sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl. Pour over apples and spread. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Enjoy with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!
