Well, despite doing absolutely nothing this weekend but watching football (and Dexter) and eating and sleeping, Adam and I did manage to cross one thing off our to-do list - we finally got off our butts and registered for the wedding at Bed Bath & Beyond.
That was quite the experience...I thought that they just handed you the scanner gun and let you loose in the store. Nope. We had to fill out some paperwork and then a VERY nice saleswomen helped us select our tableware. And by select I mean she was completely shocked at the fact that Adam and I picked out our everyday stuff, fine china and place setting accessories ALL in under 10 minutes. I guess we just know what we like.
Everyday tableware was easy - we're in LOVE with the Noritake Colorwave line. Adam's parents have it in blue and it is phenomenal. We both love the raspberry but seeing as we have a sage green kitchen right now and who knows what color our next kitchen will be, well, it seemed safer to go with the graphiteand just accessorize with color (napkins, placemats, etc).
As for the china, that took a little convincing simply because Adam and I both walked in there thinking that we were only going to register for the everyday stuff. I mean really, we eat at our coffee table, how fancy do we need to get? I think the colorwave stuff is a little to nice for our lifestyle, but hey I'm not going to give up the chance to get some nice tableware!
Well, the lady convinced us that we must register for china so Adam picked out a simple set that actually once we saw it, we both were like, oooh maybe if our siblings come over we can use this (and actually use the kitchen table for once). So here's our china pattern, sweet, simple, I actually really love it and hope we get it now that we've picked one out.
As for the rest of the stuff, we struggled immensely. Over the past three years we've accumulated almost everything that we 'need' in our house so we spent a good amount of time walking around the store with the scanner debating over what else to add.
I will say though that the Bed Bath & Beyondgift registry people were extremely helpful and not at all pushy, that was pleasant...especially since I had read some horror stories about some people's experiences with trying to put together a list or get their questions answered. My only complaint would be that the 'OOPS' scan code was hard to use since you could only erase the last scanned item. But everything was instantaneous so we just went online when we got home and easily deleted those that we didn't want.
And now for the tricky part...we need to register at one more place but are having difficulty deciding where..Target? Crate and Barrel? Pottery Barn? Any suggestions?
(Unfortunately Home Depot is out, their registry is next-to-impossible to use...)
